The last weekend of September we took a trip to Idaho. Our neighbors were going up to the St. Anthony sand dunes and invited us to come along because Brad likes to ride his dirt bike in sand! We left Thursday night and drove to Rexburg where we stayed for 2 nights at the Marriott Springhill Suites. It is a nice hotel, only a few years old. Rexburg has change A LOT since I went to school there. It was fun to drive around and see things.
The first full day we were there we played at the dunes for the first half of the day, the girls thought the sand was awesome, it was real soft!
They were digging in it, sliding in it, climbing in it, rolling in it! We found little animal tracks in it, little girl tracks in it, it was fun! We saw a big bull moose that first morning too! Awesome, but of course it was when I didn't have my camera with me! I took the girls back to the hotel after lunch and let them swim a while before going back out and getting Brad around 6.
Everyone even had fun in the car...which is odd! But traveling was actually very easy, I give all the creditto the new minivan's DVD player, whichhelped with tired children's brains! Melody was very pleasant too, even though she couldn't see TV.
Which one of these is not like the other! :-)
After we were finished at the Dunes Saturday, we decided since we were so close to Yellowstone we might as well go! So FUN! We looked up hotels on Brad's phone and found one with a good price so we made a reservation! We got in around 3:30 and checked in, dropped off the trailer and luggage and drove into the park.
We saw some Elk along the way to Old Faithful!
We got to Old Faithful just in time, we only had to wait 10 minutes for it to explode! The girls had fun!
Daisy was being weird! There were a bunch of Chinese people standing around taking pictures of her and Paige and she was not liking it!
We ate dinner at the cafeteria at Old Faithful and watched the sunset, it was so pretty! And so NOT crowded! It was awesome! The weather was gorgeous, cool, pretty fall colors!
The next morning we ate breakfast at our hotel and then went walking down the wet streets shopping for little souveniers. On our way out of breakfast there was about 8 biker guys standing around waiting for the rain to let up...kind-of intimidating, as Brad walked through them they mentioned something about him having 2 girls and to watch out, then they saw me and added "of my, you've definitely got your hands full raising three!" Then Brad laughed and as we were walking away a guy on the end of the group said, "raise them all to be good republicans!" I turned around and said "Amen! They'll for sure be that!" It was weird, because I went from being intimidated to being completely calm and thinking, we should go back and talk to them for a while! :-)
Paige saw this flag and stopped to say the
pledge of Allegience, so Daisy joined in!
They loved the cowboys made of wood!
Melody with her new moose!
The three girls at the gas station at the edge of town, cute table in their old fashioned ice cream parlor! Unfortunately they were closed up for the season! I was really hoping to try their old fashioned ice cream sodas!...maybe next time!
I'm really glad we went! It was fun to be with just our little family and get in some good quality time which we've not had enough of it seems sometimes. think the girls had a lot of fun with Dad around everyday and it's fun to be on vacation anywhere! Definitely worth the spontaneous effort!
